The name of the Wind (A book review)
Just a few while back I finished reading the second book of the epic fantasy trilogy “The Kingkiller Chronicle” by Patrick Rothfuss (the third book is yet to be published) and this series has reignited my faith in reading!
“If there is any tale worth telling then it’s this one.”
This story has it all-Adventure,Drama,Romance,Magic and the most important-Music! The world the story is based in is realistic and believable. The magic system is also not chaotic and absurd as in most of the stories.
I was captivated by the story on the first page, amazed by the legend tale of the main character, shaken by the many heart touching dialogues, fell in love with some of the side-characters and mesmerized by some of the acts.
“It’s like everyone tells a story about themselves inside their own head. Always. All the time. That story makes you what you are. We build ourselves out of that story.”
This is my first book review and whatever I have written obviously does not do justice to Patrick Rothfuss’s great work but it is so good that it made me write this as my first post in medium. Anyways to conclude I recommend this book to anyone interested in fantasy/adventure genre. And wrapping this up one final quote from the book —
“It had flaws, but what does that matter when it comes to matters of the heart? We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That’s as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect.”
